Italy's happiest
Time of the day...
...is that of the aperitivo and is one of the most beautiful traditions.
Nowhere else in the Romanic world is this ritual celebrated as fervently as here.
When the warm light of the lanterns falls through the narrow streets in the early evening, when bars and small pubs fill with voices, laughter and life, and the gentle clinking of glasses rings through the air, then the Italian aperitivo is in full swing...

Once upon a time, it was mainly the elegant society that met for cocktails in the stylish bars and grand hotels of Milan or Turin. But since the 1980s, this ritual has changed – it no longer belongs only to the salons, but to the streets, the squares and, above all, the people.
Aperitivo time is as much a part of Italy as the Amen in church
...a familiar promise and an integral part of the Italian way of life.

The term itself comes from the Latin aperīre, ‘to open’: the aperitivo whets the appetite and prepares the stomach for a hearty dinner.
The aperitivo is a small celebration. It is a time when friends and family get together in the early evening to laugh and share stories... a ritual of gathering, turning the appetite into a social event!
